I asked Muslim women in Paris to wash the windows of a brothel in Pigalle, Paris's red light district. The French government has outlawed the burqa and niqab and banned the hijab from public schools on the pretext that these garments oppress women. Through this act of service and protest, the condition of the Muslim women is contrasted with that of legally-protected sex workers.
