On the Grass of Exile

An outdoor audio poetry installation created in partnership with the Poetry Foundation and located at the American Riad in Detroit’s North End. With speakers  buried in the ground, the project invites visitors to lie in the grass and experience poems of exile in their original languages alongside English translations, creating a space for reflection, gathering and connection through poetry. The installation features readings by ten poets from nine countries whose lives and practices have been shaped by exile, displacement and migration.
